Four Principles for Successful Daily Living
My blog today is about 1 Peter 3:10-11. I have been reading a daily devotions book by +Joyce Meyer entitled "Trusting God day by day " in today's devotional it is speaking about the "Four Principles for Successfully Daily Living" it hit home with me so I though I share what it said with you and some thoughts of my own. She breaks down the four principles as follows:
1. Keep your tongue free from evil.
God's Word states clearly, the power of life and death is in the mouth. We can bring blessing or misery into our lives with our words. When we speak rashly we often get into arguments, so choose your words carefully.
Wow this one is a tough one for me. I have a habit of speaking what I feel in that moment. She is right most times it can bring misery and lead to an argument. Our words or so important. You never know who is listening to what you say. I work in an office were people just don't think what they say or do matters. They treat people rudely and have no respect for others. Just yesterday I found out that some ladies were mistreating someone I have respect for and that I am honor to call my friend. She is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met and she is a women of God. So even though these other ladies or treating her disrespectfully she would never say anything to them. It's not her nature. I was surprised when I found out who one of the ladies were, because she calls herself a Christian and does speak about others in the office and how they have no Christian values. I believe this person needs to look hard in the mirror. We need as Christian's specially to watch what we say and how we say and treat others. People who aren't Christian's are watching us and we need to lead by example.
2. Turn away from wickedness.
We most take action to remove ourselves from wickedness or from a wicked environment. The action we must take could mean altering our friendships; it could even mean loneliness for a period of time. But you can always trust God to be with you.
This is something I am trying to do in my life. I am pulling away from friendships that I know in my heart are not true. From people who say one thing but their actions show their true colors, that is a big red flag for me to say let this one go. It not important any longer for me as it was when in high school or college to be popular or be in the main crowd. What is important to me in life now is to be walking and not just talking the talking.
3. Do Right.
The decision to do right must follow the decision to stop doing wrong. Both are definite choices. Repentance is twofold; it requires turning away from sin and turning to righteousness.
This one too is one that I really have to watch myself with. Righteousness, we all want it, but it is a hard one to truly obtain. We have to again watch what we say and do. Don't follow the crowd. We most be the ones to stand up and lead by example, to say that is what someone is doing is wrong and we want no part of it. This would include office gossip. Don't be a part of the office gossip, just walk away from it or don't put your two cents in. Office gossip is big where I work. To have been apart of it and am so trying to learn to keep my mouth shut and not get into the conversations with everyone. But we do have some evil people working there and it is so hard to not say anything. Pray for me on this one my friends.
4. Search for peace.
Notice that we must search for it, pursue it and go after it. We cannot merely desire peace without any accompanying action, we must desire peace with action. We need to search for peace in our relationships with God and with others.
Peace is something we all desire and she is right the only true peace we can have is in our relationships with others and most of all our relationship with God. Do you spend anytime at all building on your relationship with the Lord. This is one that I have really been working on this year. I have really put my mind to wanting and to needing to really know him. I spend time with him every morning in my daily devotions and I talk with him all the time through out the day. So I encourage you to think on these four principles and see are you walking them out. If not then start with one and the so on and so on. Like Joyce says then will you have true "Peace".
Until the next "Life Moments" have a blessed day.

America what happen to In God We Trust
I really agree with this. If you agree to then post, on your blog, facebook and email it to all your friends. Come America lets back to the basics that are for fathers started this great country on and that was Trust in and believe the Lord Our God. We have removed him from way to much of out lives. We need to get back to Loving our neighbors and treating each other with respect, helping those who are to weak to help themselves. It can start with one kind word or jester. Start small if you like, open the door for someone, let a car get in front of you, just me kind to one other.
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary. My confession: I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat... Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to. In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking. In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school... The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about.. And we said okay.. Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves. Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.' Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace. Are you laughing yet? Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.
Post it on if you think it has merit. If not, then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in. My Best Regards, Honestly and respectfully, Ben Stein

Down in the Dumps.
Ever woke up and just for no reason you don't have your joy and you just feel down in the dumps? Well that is me today. I guess sometimes even though we are suppose to give our worries to the Lord, it is hard. We want and do trust in him, but our flesh just won't let our mind rest. So this will be a short message today. All I can say is when you feel this way jump into the word and look for a scripture that will up lift you and chase those blues away. So the scripture that comes to mind to me today is the following from John 13:1
"Do not let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and relay on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me." So for today I am just going to focus on this scripture and try and pull myself out of this funk. Have a Blessed Day today.
Until the next Life Moments.

The Golden Rule
In life's moments do you ever find it hard to live by "The Golden Rule"? I believe we all do at one point in time. But we have that small voice in side us, that when we step out of the boundaries of The Golden Rule that will tell us, if we are listening to it, no, no, no. That is when we have to make a choice. Do we make the correction and step back into the "The Golden Rule" or do we keep that one foot out there in the world. I have stepped out of the boundary many times. Sometimes it's hard to "do un to others as you would have them do un to you." But I believe when we do treat people the way we would like to be treated, it give us a sense of peace. Would you whether have that peace then the uneasiest and bitternest that it gives us when we are outside the rule.
Being a good honest christian, is never easy. We live in a world that is full of dishonesty and evil. But God gave us a free will. We can either try to live the best life we know and treat people with kindest and forgiveness, even if they don't respond the same way. Or we can keep that foot or maybe both feet in the world and lose all the God wants to give us.
I would much rather have my life be lend by him then the world. Even though I know I have to live in the world, I don't have to be of the world.
So friends, make your mind up. Are you going to live for God and receive all the Blessing he has to give you, or do you want what the world has to offer you? Think about the decision you make, pray on it.
There are two links I go to for inspiration. On is a woman who I love her why of teaching the bible. Her name is Joyce Meyers. She has a no holds bar way of teaching, a tell it like it is. She tells you how to take the Bible principals and apply them to every day life. You can check her out at www.joycemeyer.org. The other is a former pastor who decided to take on public speaking to companies and teach on the christian attitude. His name is John Maxwell and you can look him up at www.johnmaxwell.com he has some excellent books on growth.
One more item. Joyce Meyer has a daily devotions out called "Trusting God day by day", it is really enjoyable and lifts me up everyday. For example her tip bit for today was "Trust in him, think about a situation in your life you can't do anyting about. Say from your heart, "I trust God and believe this will work out for my good," Now let it go and let God work."
Well friend until the next "Life Moments" have a Blessed Day!

Turning that other Cheek
My Friends,
Have you ever woke up in the morning and thought to yourself do I have to go to work today? Sometimes it's hard to make yourself get up and walk out that door with a good attitude because you know when you arrive you will be facing the most in polite and negative person you have ever meet. Well let me tell you that is how my day starts every day Monday - Friday. I work with a person who is the meanness, hateful, and in your face rude person. She just really knows how to pushes those button on me. When she calls yourself trying to be nice it is all for show and all fake, or she wants something from you. She is always the first to point out other peoples mistakes and faults and hardly has a nice thing to say about anyone. She thinks she knows it all and you can't tell her anything. She will try and prove you wrong on everything. Now if she makes a mistake she tries to hide it and if it does come out in the light (which everything does) she is moody and makes everyone around her miserable. If she isn't happy then know one can be happy. So you ask yourself why God why am I here at this place with this person.
Well here is the answer I received. You are there because I need you to be the light in that place. Through you I need to shine. You need to get up every morning with a great attitude and put on that full armor of God. (Ephesians 6:13-14) Go out the door with the attitude that no matter what I am not going to let her steal my joy, peace and happiness. I am going smile and be polite and if the opportunity comes along that I can bless her, then I will do that too. (you know it will too, that is just how he works)
The point of today's "Life Moments", is take every day and enjoy to the fullest. Know that he has you were you are for a reason. You may not understand it and you may not see the reward today, tomorrow or even this year, but you will see it. For he loves us so much that he gave his son to die for us so we good have life to the fullest. He didn't say there wouldn't be bumps in the road or trials to go through, but it is how we manage those bumps and trials that determines the end results. Know that he is watching and just maybe that person who is giving you headaches at work, just maybe that through you they will see and make adjustments in their life's.
Enjoy all of "Life Moments", and see with the next Life Moments.
One of my favorite verses in the Bible is II Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith not by sight"
